Day 7 - Sept 8th, 2008 - 417kms Souris MB to Warroad, Minnisota
We decided to motel it tonight. After getting chased out of Souris MB by the Park Ranger because we never paid our last camping fee we just want to have a shower and a warm place to sleep. The scooter actually smells. I think its all the mud on it from the previous day of riding. I also cracked the side blue plastic trying to bring the scooter into our hotel room. Oh well, it hopefully won't fall off or get any worse though.
Turns out my shoes are not waterproof like they said they were. My socks were soaked so we had to stop at a Subway and dry them out in the bathroom on the hand dryer. Ended up leaving Subway with a bunch of their footlong bags on my boots. They worked a charm though and I had dry feet even though it rained alot today. I'm worried about getting pulled over tomorrow in Duluth because it's definitely going to be one of the busier places we drive through.
We were stopped at the border for about 45 minutes and had to undress and everything. Seems pretty ridiculous because if someone wants to sneak something over the border there are much easier ways. We actually were on a road and the only thing separating the USA from Canada was a small body of water that I could have swam across.
We can't figure out the heat control in the hotel room so it looks like its going to be another cold night. We stopped in Morris, MB for lunch. Ate far too much and unfortunately the rain clouds caught up with us again so it was rain the rest of the way to Warroad.
Cold, miserable, just want this over with.
